Guided by humor and imagination, my work reflects a career spent exploring visual storytelling. I studied art at the University of Arizona and spent much of my career working as a graphic designer and illustrator. As an illustrator, I was best known for my humorous approach, creating work with a whimsical sensibility that appeared in numerous magazines and books over the years.
A few years ago, I turned my focus to painting, beginning with watercolor landscapes. While I enjoyed the medium, I found myself missing the humor that had long defined my illustration work. This led me to acrylics, where I was able to reintroduce that playful spirit, blending painterly expression with the lighthearted, whimsical edge that has always been central to my art.
Inspired by the ever-changing colors and textures of the Arizona desert and the red rocks of Sedona, my paintings draw from the natural world and its Southwest denizens. Using bold colors and energetic brushstrokes, I aim to capture both the beauty and personality of the environment and the characters within it, infusing each piece with a sense of humor and imagination.
